Dawson T. Li, O.D.

Dr. Dawson T. Li attended the University of California at Los Angeles where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychobiology in 1995. After graduating from UCLA, he attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL and earned his Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1999. After earning his optometry degree, Dr. Li practiced in Atlanta, GA for two years concentrating on primary care optometry and LASIK co-management. He has been serving the Bakersfield community since the Fall of 2001.

Dr. Li’s focus is on family practice optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease and contact lenses. He is board certified to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases of the eye and use therapeutic and pharmacological agents. He is also certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy as well as Laser Refractive Co-management. Dr. Li’s patients benefit from his unique understanding of LASIK, after having undergone the procedure himself. Dr. Li also is fluent in Spanish to accommodate his Spanish speaking patients.

Dr. Li is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the Kern County Optometric Society. Community service and striving for excellence are very important to Dr. Li. He is currently an active member of the West Bakersfield Rotary Club, Lamont Lions Club, Bakersfield Business Network,
and Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce.

In Dr. Li’s free time, he enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, and
spending quality time with his wife, family and friends.

Yuh-Jen Liao, O.D.

Dr. Yuh-Jen Liao attended the University of California at San Diego where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology in 1996. After graduating from UCSD, she attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL and earned her Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2000. After earning her optometry degree, Dr. Liao practiced in Atlanta, GA at the Laser Vision Institute, where she successfully managed over 3,000 LASIK cases. She has been practicing optometry in the Bakersfield community since the Fall of 2001.

Dr. Liao’s focus is on family practice optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease and contact lenses. She is board certified to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases of the eye and use therapeutic and pharmacological agents. She is also certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy as well as Laser Refractive Co-management.

Dr. Liao is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the Kern County Optometric Society.

Dr. Liao enjoys traveling, tennis, skiing, and spending quality time
with her husband, family, and friends.

Dawson T. Li, O.D. & Yuh-Jen Liao, O.D.

Having met and dated while in optometry school, Dr. Li and Dr. Liao
wed in 2002. Their three children, twins Christian and Lauren, and youngest
Jordan, keep them very, very busy.


Michelle Kim, O.D.

Dr. Michelle Kim is a new associate at Li & Liao Optometry and a recent addition to the Kern County community.

Dr. Kim completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine.  She continued her education at the Southern California College of Optometry, where she received her Doctorate of Optometry.  Dr. Kim had extensive experience treating and caring for patients at the Veterans’ Administration hospitals in Fresno, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.  Within the VA hospital setting, Dr. Kim’s area of emphasis was on eye disease and cataract co-management.

Dr. Kim’s focus is in primary care optometry, with special interests in ocular disease and contact lenses.  She is board certified in the treatment and management of eye disease, such as glaucoma, eye infection, allergy, and dry eye syndrome.  As confident and comfortable as Dr. Kim is with eye disease, she is equally adept at handling all children, young and old, with her friendly and easy going demeanor.

Dr. Kim is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Los Angeles County Optometric Society.  While in Los Angeles, in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club and the Blind
Children’s Learning Center, Dr. Kim was involved with vision screenings for
school-aged children.

In her spare time, Dr. Kim enjoys snowboarding, hiking and
spending quality time with her family and friends.
